The End of the Beginning

Remember when we would play
Four square or double dutch
Or back in the day
When the sun went down and we laughed so much.
Miss Mary Mack all dressed in black
Takes me back
To the days when youth was proof
Enough to
Soothe our souls and
Satisfy our sorrows.

That day has come and gone,
I suppose,
Replaced by the future, so it goes.
Tears fall, the day's coming fast
In with the new, let's kill the past
Mourn it not, it was good while it lasted
Blasted memories, Casted dreams
Childhood ripped apart at the seams

Let the countdown to the end begin
This game, this war, this life,
We win.
It's over now. Good riddance.
Forgiveness I haven't given
Love that I have hidden
I summon you this day
I can't stay, but I pray
That the stars will align themselves
And alight your way.

Chapter One

My pen is my voice
The black ink sinks, soaks, provokes
Words, lines, rhymes
Held back behind walls I built,
Stone by stone, alone.
I take a breath
Inhale, Exhale.
Story of my life.

I, I write.
I wish, I want, I will, I love, I hate
I cry, I dance, I.....don't know what to write
Day and Night
I do this.
Start, stop, drop
Everything.

My pen is my voice
And I've got nothing to say
I want to scream
My dreams are only dreams,
It seems.
I take a breath
Inhale, exhale
Story of my life

You, I write.
You take, I break.
You wish, you want, you will, you won't
You don't I don't
Want to do this.
Start, stop, drop
Everything.
Now the page is filled with You and I.

My pen is my voice and
Melodies bring memories.
He never really could
Harmonize, mezmorize, tantalize, realize
That all I heard were his goodbyes
His story is history
My story's still a mystery.
My sun's set, but my future's bright
I, I write.

I write.
I write and I fight
I delight in the things
Tomorrow's bringing
My pen is my voice
And I am singing ♥
